Privacy policy.
Buoy is a small business in Oceanside, California. This page explains what we collect when you use buoydesk.com, why, and how to ask us to delete it. It is written in plain language on purpose.
What we collect
- Site analytics. We use PostHog to understand which pages people visit and how they move through the site. It records page views, clicks, the pages you came from, your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It sets cookies or local storage in your browser to tell repeat visits apart. We do not build a profile of you unless you identify yourself, for example by booking a call.
- Booking a call. The scheduler on the audit page is provided by Calendly. When you book, Calendly collects your name, email address, and anything you type into the booking form, and shares it with us so we can hold the call.
- Requesting a report. The email form on the audit page is provided by Tally. It collects your email address and your answers, and shares them with us so we can send you the report.
- Email. If you write to hello@buoydesk.com, we keep the conversation so we can reply and follow up.
- Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends a request to Google's servers when a page loads.
How we use it
- To run the site and see which pages are useful.
- To schedule and prepare for the calls you book.
- To send you the report you asked for and follow up about the audit.
- To reply when you contact us.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone beyond the services named above and the tools we use to run the business.
Who else handles it
PostHog, Calendly, Tally, and Google each process data under their own privacy policies. We chose them because they are established providers, but they are separate companies. If you would rather not use the embedded forms, email us instead.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and email records for as long as we are talking with you about working together, and for a reasonable period afterward for our own records. Analytics data is kept in aggregate. You can ask us to delete anything we hold about you at any time.
Your choices
- You can block analytics cookies in your browser or with a content blocker, and the site will still work.
- You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. California residents have these rights under state law, and we extend them to everyone.

Changes
If we add a tool that changes what we collect, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
